**Full Podcast:** https://lovethenorth.ca/article/260911-sudbury-election-miranda-rocca-circelli-mayor When City Hall spends millions of taxpayer dollars, who's making sure that money is being spent responsibly? Greater Sudbury mayoral candidate Miranda Rocca-Circelli joins Love the North to discuss municipal spending, transparency, and accountability at City Hall. Central to her platform is restoring the **Office of the Auditor General** to provide independent oversight of municipal spending, policies, and decisions. Rocca-Circelli argues that taxpayers deserve to know where their money goes, why it's being spent, and what measurable results they're getting in return. **When major projects exceed budgets, infrastructure deteriorates, and property taxes rise, who answers to the taxpayer?** The conversation explores: - **Independent Oversight:** Restoring the Auditor General to scrutinize municipal spending. - **Financial Accountability:** Reviewing budgets, identifying waste, and questioning major expenditures. - **Zero-Based Budgeting:** Reassessing spending priorities instead of automatically carrying expenses forward. - **Events Centre:** Examining the financial commitments behind major municipal projects. - **Community Empowerment:** Giving wards more influence over local infrastructure priorities. - **Transparency:** Making financial information and decision-making more accessible to residents. Her message focuses on ensuring taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly and City Hall remains answerable to the people funding it. **The big question: Shouldn't every taxpayer have the right to know exactly how their money is spent and what they're getting for it?** Watch the full conversation and decide for yourself. **Love the North — Your Community.
