Full Podcast: https://lovethenorth.ca/article/260608-beyond-ranks-air-cadets Jeff's own son is a perfect example of what the Air Cadet program can lead to. Jeff explains that his son went through Sudbury’s **200 Wolf Squadron**, where he earned his **glider licence before he even had his driver’s licence**. A year later, he earned his powered pilot licence — and today, he flies professionally for **WestJet**. For Jeff, that makes his son one of the squadron’s real success stories. The Air Cadet program gives young people access to aviation training that many families might otherwise never be able to afford. Cadets can work toward glider and power pilot scholarships, while also learning discipline, responsibility, teamwork, leadership and confidence. And the opportunity can become much more than a summer experience. For Jeff’s son, what started as a youth program eventually became a career in the cockpit. **That is the power of exposing young people to real opportunities early — sometimes the thing they try as a teenager can become the career they spend their life doing.** Air Cadets is not just about uniforms or marching. For some young people, it can literally be the first step toward learning to fly. #AirCadets #200WolfSquadron #WestJet #Pilot #Aviation #YouthPrograms #Sudbury #NorthernOntario #Leadership #LoveTheNorth
