Full podcast: https://lovethenorth.ca/article/261022-grief-never-goes-away-two How does a mother move forward when a piece of her heart is gone forever? In this deeply emotional episode of Love the North, Angel and Julie from Butterfly Wings Perinatal Bereavement Services share the heartbreaking reality of losing a child and why grief isn't something you simply get over. For a mother, the loss doesn't disappear with time. The birthdays that never happen, the milestones never celebrated, and the memories of holding her baby remain forever. Julie lost her son Parker ten years ago, yet she describes how the pain can still feel as overwhelming as it did the day he passed away. The smell of his hair, the sounds of the hospital, and those final moments remain vivid in her memory. Angel shares a similar journey after losing her daughter Tia, who lived for just 21 days. Both mothers explain that life doesn't return to what it was before. Instead, they must learn to live with what they call their "new normal." That means finding a way to smile again while carrying sadness. Celebrating life's happy moments while missing someone who should be there. Getting out of bed, raising their other children, and continuing forward even when their hearts are breaking. And perhaps most importantly, understanding that moving forward doesn't mean moving on or forgetting. Through Butterfly Wings in Sudbury, grieving parents find a community where they can speak their children's names, share their stories, and feel understood without judgment or pressure to "get over it." Because a mother's love doesn't end when her child's life does. Sometimes the greatest support isn't finding the right words. It's simply being there, listening, and remembering their child alongside them. #LoveTheNorth #ButterflyWings #ChildLoss #GriefSupport #PregnancyAndInfantLoss #Sudbury #NorthernOntario #YouAreNotAlone
