Love the North

Full Podcast: https://lovethenorth.ca/article/260919-northern-ontario-food-bank-crisis Natalie from the Sudbury Food Bank says the need across Northern Ontario continues to grow — and food banks need support in every form. That means food donations matter. But so does cash. Cash donations can often give food banks more flexibility because they can buy exactly what is needed, fill gaps in inventory, support transportation and storage costs, and purchase items that may not come in through regular donations. Food donations are just as important because they put products directly onto shelves and into hampers for families who need them. The message is that there is no single “right” way to help. A business can make a financial contribution. A grocery store can donate food. A family can bring in canned goods. A workplace can organize a food drive. Volunteers can give their time. Every piece helps. Natalie’s broader point is that food insecurity has become too large for food banks to handle alone. They depend on businesses, individuals, community groups, grocery stores and volunteers all working together. **Whether it is $10, a bag of groceries, a pallet of food or a few hours of your time — it all adds up.** Food banks can stretch donations further when the community supports them in different ways, and that support is needed year-round, not only during the holidays. #SudburyFoodBank #FoodDonations #CashDonations #FoodInsecurity #CommunitySupport #DonateLocal #NorthernOntario #Sudbury #Volunteering #LoveTheNorth
