Full Podcast: https://lovethenorth.ca/article/260606-womens-health-getting-back-to The podcast raises concerns about antibiotics being used in chicken feed and what that could mean for human health. Historically, antibiotics were sometimes added to livestock and poultry feed not only to treat illness, but also to prevent disease and improve growth. The concern is that unnecessary antibiotic use can contribute to **antimicrobial resistance**, making certain infections harder to treat. Canada has tightened those rules significantly. Since 2018, medically important antibiotics used in animal feed require veterinary oversight, and they can no longer be labelled or used for growth promotion. They may still be used to treat or prevent disease when medically appropriate. **The bigger message is that what goes into our food system matters — and responsible antibiotic use protects both animal health and human health.** #WomensHealth #FoodIndustry #Antibiotics #Chicken #FoodHealth #AntimicrobialResistance #NorthernOntario #LoveTheNorth
