In Part 2 of Beyond the Ranks, host Michael Richardson welcomes Ryan back for a deeper conversation about mental health, PTSD and the realities faced by police officers, military veterans and other first responders.

Ryan explains how he became involved with All Okay and Wounded Warriors Canada, and why a simple message, phone call or invitation for coffee can sometimes make the difference between someone suffering alone and getting the support they need.

The conversation explores the cumulative effects of traumatic calls, the pressure to appear invincible, stigma within the workplace and the need for regular mental-health check-ins throughout a first responder’s career. Ryan also speaks candidly about carrying the stress of policing home, raising a family while working around trauma and learning how to communicate with a partner after a difficult shift.

This episode is a powerful reminder that asking for help is not weakness. It is an act of strength, awareness and responsibility.

If you are struggling, reach out to someone you trust or seek professional support. If you notice someone else struggling, call them, text them, invite them for coffee and keep checking in.
