Beyond the Ranks: Introducing ANAVETS Sudbury Unit 469

In this introductory episode of Beyond the Ranks on the Love the North Podcast, host Mike Richardson welcomes Graham Bromley, president of ANAVETS Sudbury Unit 469, for a conversation about service, history, veterans, first responders, and community.

ANAVETS, the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Association, is one of Canada’s long-standing veterans organizations. In Sudbury, Unit 469 is helping bring that mission to Northern Ontario by creating a place where veterans, cadets, police officers, paramedics, firefighters, corrections officers, conservation officers, RCMP members, and other first responders can connect, share stories, and support one another.

Graham shares his own background growing up in Sudbury, serving in cadets, spending time with the Navy League, and completing 37 years in policing before becoming involved with ANAVETS. The conversation also explores how ANAVETS expanded into Manitoulin, Sudbury, and Elliott Lake, why Unit 469 was named in connection with Highway 69, and how the organization supports veterans’ hospitals, retirement home visits, and local community outreach.

This episode is a call to spread the word. If you served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, RCMP, police, fire, paramedic services, corrections, conservation, cadets, or another first responder role, ANAVETS may be a place where you can reconnect with others who understand that life of service.

Join the conversation. Support the mission. Help grow ANAVETS Sudbury Unit 469.
